Smart
creation of sections and multiple parallel contours
Fixtures are common in the area of mock-up design,
proto-build and product control. To produce these fixtures many
intersections and parallel contours of the components have to be
generated. Offset offers the engineer to automate these time consuming
and very monotone operations.
Automatic generation of intersections through a
set of faces (Offset 3D)
With OFFSET in 3D Space mode it is possible to
create the intersection curve(s) between a set of faces and a single
plane or evenly spaced planes along a spine
Resulting gaps between the intersection elements
of the selected faces will be connected.
Smart creation of parallel contours (Offset 2D and
Draw)
In DRAW or SP 2D modes, the function OFFSET allows
to create, from a set of elements, the offset contour simply by
selecting a start and an end element. With the option MULTI it is even
possible to create several offset curves according to the parameters
supplied in a configuration file. Further options are defining the way
the single offset elements have to be relimited, concatenated or even
replaced by a set of lines and circular arcs.
The OFFSET function, especially in 2D and DRAW
modes, is a very powerful and easy to use tool including:
• Extended auto-search capabilities,
allowing a quick contour definition
• Automatic relimitation of the single
offset elements in allowance to smart rules
• Automatic concatenation of the results
as a single curve
• Replacement of the contour by a
sequence of lines and circular arcs
