Punching Analysis The main objectives of CATAHP can be listed as
follows: • Based on the AUDI/VW 39 D 581
norm • Calculation of hole centre
displacement • Check of the geometry on
both material sides of surface geometry
• Automatic generation of bill of material
In the case of complex parts , it is not always possible to perform
punching of a hole exactly normal to its surface. Consequently, the
shape of the punched hole differs from the designed one. Typically, a
circular hole becomes an ellipse. In addition, in allowance to the
material thickness, a displacement of the midpoint is resulting from
the operation. The aim of this CATIA add-on
function is to help the user choosing the most convenient tool to
perform a certain punch operation within a given range of tolerances:
Moreover, CATAHP is able to recognise all the holes of the
model, classify them (circular holes, square holes, hexagonal etc.) and
group them inside of a bill of material. Calculation method:
The computation is based on the AUDI/VW 39 D 581 norm. This
norm describes the behaviour of circular holes when the cutting
direction is not parallel to the hole axis. It also defines how to
modify the tool diameter and centre point in order to get a better
result. CATAHP function allows two kinds of
calculation: • Computation of the tool
diameter (=diameter of the hole in the tool direction) from the hole
dimensions normal to the part surface. •
Computation of the hole dimensions, normal to the part surface, from
the tool diameter. In both cases, the quality of
the hole is automatically checked against user defined tolerances.
CATAHP is also computing, for each hole, the centerpoint displacement
and the real geometry. Return
